Frequently Asked Questions

Everything travellers ask us before booking — visas, seasons, prices, safety and how our private tours work. Still curious? Ask us on WhatsApp.

Do I need a visa for Sri Lanka?+

Most nationalities need an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization), applied online in minutes — and since May 2026 it is free for 40 countries including the US, UK, EU and India. We walk every guest through it before they fly.

What is the best time to visit Sri Lanka?+

December to April for the south and west coast plus hill country; May to September for the east coast. Safaris run year-round — Yala is best February to July, and Minneriya's famous elephant Gathering happens August to October.

Are your tours private or group?+

All our tours are private: your own vehicle, driver-guide and a schedule that bends around you. No strangers, no fixed timetable, no waiting for a bus.

What is included in the tour price?+

Private transport, an English-speaking driver-guide, hotel pickup and drop-off, and all listed activities. Park entry fees are shown separately so pricing stays transparent.

Can you customise an itinerary?+

Absolutely — most trips start from one of our templates and end up fully tailor-made. Tell us your dates and interests on WhatsApp and we will sketch a route within a day.

How do I pay?+

A small deposit confirms your booking; the balance is payable on arrival by card or cash (USD, EUR or LKR).

Is Sri Lanka safe for tourists?+

Yes. Sri Lanka is consistently ranked among the friendliest destinations in Asia, welcomed a record 2.36 million visitors in 2025, and our team supports you 24/7 while you travel with us.

How much does a private driver cost in Sri Lanka?+

Expect roughly USD 55–85 per day for a comfortable sedan with an English-speaking driver, depending on route and season. Chauffeur-guides (licensed to guide at sites) cost a little more. We quote transparently — no hidden extras.

How much does a safari cost in Sri Lanka?+

A half-day jeep safari typically runs on the jeep hire plus park entry fees per person. Udawalawe is generally cheaper and calmer than Yala; full-day safaris cost more but suit keen photographers. Our safari guides break down every cost.

How many days do I need in Sri Lanka?+

Seven days covers the highlights at pace (Cultural Triangle, hill country, one safari, beach). Ten days is the sweet spot for most travellers; fourteen lets you add the east coast or slow down properly.

Can I book the Kandy to Ella train through you?+

Yes — reserved seats open about 30 days ahead and sell out fast, so we book them as part of your itinerary and build the day around the journey, including the right side to sit on.

What should I wear at temples?+

Cover your shoulders and knees, and remove shoes and hats before entering temple precincts. A light sarong in your daypack solves every situation.
