Day one delivers the Ella essentials: Ravana Falls, the iconic scenic train ride through tea country, Little Adam's Peak, the Nine Arch Bridge, colonial Nuwara Eliya and Ramboda Waterfall, with tea tasting and monkey feeding along the way. Every stop is timed to dodge the crowds and catch the finest light for photographs.

Day two is the wildlife and heritage day: witness more than 30 elephants bathing in the river at Pinnawala, enjoy a memorable elephant feeding experience, admire the Golden Buddha of Dambulla, then climb Pidurangala Rock — the adventurous alternative with the most stunning view in Sri Lanka: Sigiriya Lion Rock rising before you. Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

Why Pidurangala instead of Sigiriya?+

Pidurangala offers the single best view in the region — Sigiriya Lion Rock itself, framed at sunrise or sunset — with far fewer crowds and a more adventurous climb. Many travellers actually prefer it to climbing Sigiriya.

Is hotel accommodation included?+

Yes. One night's hotel stay with breakfast is included, plus air-conditioned transport, all entrance fees, drinking water and an English and Russian-speaking guide. Lunch is paid separately.

How difficult is the Pidurangala climb?+

Moderate — it is a proper rock scramble near the top with some boulder sections, taking about 45 minutes to an hour up. Wear good hiking shoes and you will be rewarded with an unbeatable panorama.

Which areas do you pick up from?+

Free pickup from Unawatuna, Hikkaduwa, Koggala, Galle, Mirissa, Weligama and Ahangama; paid transfers available from Kalutara, Bentota, Colombo and other outlying areas.
